Fidel Amharic Keyboard support

Shown on your device as “ፊደል.” Smart transliteration with on-device suggestions and optional haptics. This page includes setup, troubleshooting, privacy details, and how to contact us.

Requirements

  • iPhone or iPad running iOS/iPadOS 15 or later.
  • Network access is not required for typing or suggestions.

Install & Enable

  1. Install the app from the App Store.
  2. Go to Settings → General → Keyboard → Keyboards → Add New Keyboard → select “ፊደል”.
  3. (Optional) Tap “ፊደል” → turn on “Allow Full Access” to enable haptics and settings sync. Typing works without this.

Using the Keyboard

  • Transliteration: type te to get ተ (works across consonants and vowels).
  • Suggestions: predictive text and autocorrect are on by default; accept with a tap.
  • Haptics: toggle the haptic button on the keyboard top bar (requires Full Access).
  • Layout: switch between ፊደል and system keyboards with the globe icon.

Troubleshooting

  • Keyboard not showing: confirm it is added under Settings → General → Keyboard → Keyboards.
  • No haptics: enable “Allow Full Access” and ensure device haptics are on.
  • Still stuck? Reboot the device, then re-add the keyboard.

Privacy & Data

  • Keystrokes and learned words stay on-device; nothing is sent to external servers.
  • Full Access is used only to control haptic feedback and preferences.
  • No ads, third-party tracking, or analytics SDKs are included.
